Walter Alan Woods né Head (1862-1939) played a prominent part in the early development of the Tasmanian Labor Party; before this he had been connected with the New Australia Movement. Woods was a journalist and edited and part-owned the Clipper, a Labor newspaper. He also wrote poetry under the pseudonym John Drayman.
